Okay, so I’ve been very busy with parent teacher conferences and my school does not have a fall break so in my “spare time” I’m supposed to work on my try it assignments, complete a mid-term, and be a wife and a mother. Can you spell uuggghhhh?
I get nervous about trying new technology sometimes and this would be one of those times. I have gotten great feedback about Kidspiration and so I’ve downloaded the free trial. I have begun playing around with it for the content mapping portion and it appears to be user friendly. I sure do hope so because I’m not feeling very tech savvy these days!
So tonight I also downloaded Microsoft Movie Maker. The video examples seem to demonstrate the ease of using the program; again hopefully it won’t be deceiving! I will be using that product to create a digital story. I think that the digital story scares me more than the mapping because mapping is easy when you have a concept or idea. I do not have any idea on the digital story. Are we able to use an existing story or do we have to create one? Am I to create a story to instruct my students or just a story to share for fun?
Fun times, I tell you!

  1. I totally hear what you're saying in this post! I also had parent teacher conferences this past week. Plus having another class going on, it can be stressful at times. I also tried out Kidspiration and somehow figured my way out to making a pretty easy concept map. I did try it and made it kindergarten friendly since that's my grade level I teach.

I also used Microsoft Movie Maker to make a digital story. That was fun to play around with. I used some pictures from a Cancun trip this past summer. I'm pretty sure you can use an existing story or a story about you. Like I made a story as a small snapshot of all the things I did in Cancun. I just did a story to share for fun so I hope I'm right about that. I was assuming that since it's a try it assignment, as long as we tried it we get the points. I hope so! Hope it goes well for you.

  2. Hi there. I too had a busy week with work, kids, and husband out of town. I am though using Microsoft Movie Maker tonight to make a video for my roommate's wedding. Since I won't be able to go, my husband and I thought we would send a funny video like we were there. We even added in the kids doing the chicken dance. Haven't started to edit and hoping I can figure this out quick since I need to send it tomorrow. Hang in there guys. November is quickly upon us and remember last week was a full moon. I swear that always makes things crazier:)
